Nubar, Inc. owns the exclusive worldwide rights to a technology developed at Cornell University, the Laminated Composite Reinforcing bar ("LCR"), a non-metallic laminated composite reinforcing rod for use in reinforced or prestressed concrete.
The LCR bar (U.S. Patent 5,613,334) overcomes the limitations of other fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) composite materials and is considered by the Company as a viable alternative to steel reinforcement for some applications where steel rebar will fail due to corrosion.
Nubar carbon fiber rebar is three times stronger and weighs 80% less than steel rebar of the same cross sectional area.
